It doesn't have a gold ring on the front tube which omits it from most models I could find on their website, and the serial number (shown in pics) doesn't have a letter prefix that would indicate manufacture date. 'Leupold' is written on the side, as shown in the pics. Hoping its not an imitation. What year was my scope manufactured? Since 1974 Leupold has incorporated a letter date code in the serial number of each scope. The prefix, beginning with the letter E, was advanced each year. In 1993 the letter changed to a suffix, and was moved to the end of the serial number. Any scope without a letter in the serial number was produced. Serial Number: 020497. Year of Manufacture: 1981 (IB date code) Caliber:.22 W.M.R. (Winchester Magnum Rimfire) Action Type: Semi-Automatic Rifle, w/ Detachable Box Magazine. Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked '.22 WMR' forward of the rear sight and with eagle over 'N', 'IB' date code and Ulm antler proof mark behind.

Browning Serial Numbers
BROWNING SERIALIZATION 1975 TO CURRENT:
In 1975 Browning began using the two (2) letter code
system (located in the middle of the serial number) for
determining the year of manufacture. For example 'PN'
would be '89' indicating 1989.
